3 Things to Show Students You Care

6/25/2016

1. GO TO THEIR EVENTS
Your students will not only see that you care enough about them to take time out of your busy schedule to come and see them, but their parents will also see that you care about their kid!

3. ASK YOUR STUDENTS TO SHARE IN FRONT OF THEIR PEERS
This can be very intimidating for them. But I believe that it makes a huge impact on them & those who ae listening. It's easy to pretend everything is perfect and you're always on fire for Jesus, but you would be shocked what a simple testimony on a Wednesday night could do to your ministry.

2. SPEND TIME WITH THEM
This one seems like a no-brainer, but it's often over-looked. It's seriously amazing to see what a simple 45 minute talk over coffee with a student can do to your relationship & their self-esteem. It breaks down walls, and you get to see what they're like not surrounded by friends.

80's New Years Bash!

This simple student-ministry-wide event was a BLAST, & it really reached a lot of people. The goal of this event was to share the gospel. We themed the night out to be all about the 80's! Parents in our ministry really loved this event because they could actually help their kid get ready for it (lol)! & Just in case you couldn't tell- our staff loved getting into it as well.
For this event specifically, we hired out KJ52 & we had a party! We gave out glow sticks and gave out a prize to the best dressed middle & high school student. After the entertainment wrapped up, we presented the gospel & watched kids come to know Jesus. I encourage doing visitor friendly New Years events because its a time when everyone wants a new start, & what better way to get a new start than giving your life to Christ?!

Tye-Dye Always Gets Em'

Attach tye-dye to any event title, & girls are more than likely always going to show up with a white t-shirt in hand. But once they walk through the doors to fellowship, make sure you have a devotional, or brief topic to discuss!
For a tye-dyeing this event, have girls bring their own items they wanted to tye-dye, & you provide the rest: the dye, rubber bands, gloves, & plastic to wrap up their finished products.
Choose a time, either after, during, or before tye-dye to talk to your girls- whatever you think would speak into your girls' hearts always works!
Brief suggestion: Have an instruction card pre-printed so that your students will know what to do with the shirt.

May the 4th be With You

This event was student ministry wide, and it was AMAZING! You don't need to be a Star Wars nerd to have appreciated "May the 4th be with You".
This night was very visitor friendly. We encouraged our students to bring their friends because the intention of this event was to present the gospel at the end of the night.
For this particular event, we had middle school vs. high school as a theme the whole night. The middle school represented the light side (or rebels), and the high schoolers were the empire for the night.
We started off the night with a Star Wars crawl, with a story line we made up to explain why the middle schoolers and high schoolers were battling against each other (which they LOVED). Following that & some very light worship, we brought out Darth Vader and his storm troopers to intimidate the crowd and to basically be awesome! After that we had multiple games for all the students to play including Star Wars trivia Kahoot, Save Han Solo, Blaster Shoot Off, & a Light Saber Dual.
The whole entire night we gave out points for winning the games, how many people were dressed up, & for bringing visitors. To bring the visitors-we were giving away a free hover board. To keep the kids engaged all night in the competition-the winning side (middle or high) was the only side that got their names put in the raffle to win the hover board. After the excitement & give-aways, we presented the gospel & watched 4 students come to know Christ! Which was obviously THE BEST PART.
All in all, I would give Star Wars Night a 10/10.

Girls Weekend

6/7/2016

This is a weekend full of laughter, new friendships, pouring into students, & THE BEACH! This weekend is also one of the more planned-in-advance & thought out events- but definitely worth it!

First we found & booked the hotel & transportation (obviously contracts were drawn up & LOTS of phone calls were made).

TIPS FOR BOOKING & TRANSPORTATION:

1. Make sure the hotel can accommodate the number of girls you anticipate on having, there's a place to hold a worship sessions, they have roll-away beds, etc. 2. School busses are cheaper than Martz buses, even though they are less comfortable, I recommend them. 3. Does your hotel have meal-time options? If not, can they provide a large room to feed girls out of?
4. Know your budget, approximately how many girls & leaders plan on coming, and PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
