5 Things Everyone Should Have for Their Girls Night!

One thing I love is ministry specifically designed for girls. Although a girls night in February probably isn't going to happen for me... it's still fun to prep & be inspired! If you are wanting to create a girls night, here's my formula!

FIGURE OUT THE WHY (& Answer Some Questions)
Before any event, it is crucial to figure out the "why". It's also important to ask yourself, "Does this align with what our student ministry is doing right now?" As we put on girls events, it is VITAL to ask ourselves questions like these. We are not a girls ministry separate from or instead of a student ministry, your girls ministry is here to partner hand-in-hand with whatever your student ministry is doing right now. Once you've cleared the event, sit down and spend some time figuring out what the purpose is for your event. Answer some the following questions for yourself: Who is this night for? What is the purpose for this event? What am I going to push my girls towards? Do I need a mission statement for this event and if I do, what is it? What are the elements I need to have in order for it to be a successful event? What are my superiors expecting of me? What volunteers, moms, other ladies can I involve?
These are just SOME of the questions you should ask yourself. I can give my fun tips and tricks, but DISCLAIMER: what I say is a "successful event" doesn't mean my word is law... figure out the elements that work for you and your ministry!

FILL THEM (physically)
This is very self-explanatory... (most of the time) your kiddos need to be fed! Try to keep the food on theme and not too expensive. And remember, if you don't have the budget to have individualized candy hearts and matching cookies made... neither does anyone else! Just keep your budget in mind and BE CREATIVE! Also... ASK FOR HELP! There is no fault in asking a couple moms to make a dozen cookies, people love to help! They're usually just waiting for you to ask them!
ENTERTAIN!
Having the lesson down and filling their stomachs is an AMAZING START!!! And TBH, If we were to just stop there the girls would be THRILLED! However, I am extra, & therefore I like to have a couple more things up my sleeve. That being said, I love to have something for the girlies to do before and after the event. So whether it's a bible journaling station, a photo booth, or fun games everybody gets to play... have fun with it! And of course, try and stay on theme (if possible)!
PICK A TAKE AWAY
Another "extra" thing I personally love to have for the girls is something for them to take home! Whether it's their very own polaroid from the photo booth, something to remind them of the lesson they learned, or just a party favor. I think it's something sweet and fun to do for the girls to say thank you for coming!

THE LESSON
Since I'm creating a mock-Feb-Girls-Night, I feel as if it's only appropriate for my lesson to be about love, boyfriends, Galentines (friendship), loving the unloveable, etc. -- you catch my drift! Theming is important because it not only needs to be inline with what your student ministry as a whole is learning, but you also have to be relevant and age appropriate! If you happen to be speaking to middle and high school girls, I suggest to keep the lesson's comprehension level around a 9-10th grader. Also a quick note to pick topics that we usually couldn't cover if boys were in the room (see topics above). Of course, it also goes without saying that it is a MUST to keep the topics biblical. This isn't thoughts from your blog, or confessions from my past... this is about JESUS, after all (I know you know that, but just keeping it real here!!)

Just a solid reminder that you need to do what is right in your own ministry's eyes! I just had some fun giving you a few ideas and the "why" behind them!
